History made as Second team defeat Haworth West End

Club history was made on Saturday 27 June 2009 when the second team were hosting Haworth West End second XI, Haworth won the toss and elected to field so Sutton openers Paul Williams and brother Gary Williams strolled out to the crease on what turned into a very hot afternoon, Paul was the first to score and was quickly followed by Gary and between them they raced the total to 120 in just 20 over’s.

Shortly after that both batsmen made their half centuries through some good running and several fours apiece and one six for Gary.

Hawarth kept throwing everything they had at the Williams brothers but with no success, after 41 over’s gone, Paul was on 98 and Gary was on 99 it was any ones guess who if any was to score a century, Gary stroked a magnificent four to reach 100 first and not to be out done Paul ran a couple of singles to also make 100.

At the end of 5 over’s Sutton reached 238 for no wickets.

History made:-

This is the highest innings by a Sutton side for no wickets lost.

The first time both opening batsmen have made a century.

The first time two centuries in one match have been made by brothers.

Sutton the bowled Haworth out for 66 to take the 3 points

Well done to both Paul and Gary an excellent performance.
